This video was made by a teacher who is demonstrating how she does phoneme deletion with a student. It does a good job of showing how to structure a lesson on this topic in order to best support student learning. The teacher also has the student use the smartboard in this lesson, probably in an effort to make it more engaging. However, having students be able to see the original word followed by the new word only works well when the new word is spelled correctly. For instance, it wouldn't be good to use a smartboard with the word 'hive,' because the resulting word 'hi' would have to be spelled like 'hie.'

This picture provides you with a few different words that work well with phoneme deletion. There are examples for deleting phonemes from the end of the word as well as the middle of the word. The words that have students delete phonemes from the middle of them are for more advanced students because they require a higher order of thinking.
